« Retrouver le fil de l’histoire pour créer un parc, unique et singulier »

Site singulier et hors normes, à l’image de son instigateur, le parc du château de Valbelle est un témoignage précieux de l’époque des lumières, démantelé et réapproprié par le peuple puis reconquis par la garrigue…

Les éléments sont là : fabriques, cheminements sinueux, reliques de bosquets, cadrage sur le paysage, pyramide camouflée dans les bois… Ils n’attendent qu’une relecture afin de recomposer un parc qui ménage surprise, connaissance et plaisir sans cesse renouvelé de la découverte.

Le dialogue entre écologie, histoire et projet de paysage peut transcender le simple souci
« ornemental » en rendant hommage aux idées et à l’éclectisme du XVIIIème siècle où herborisation et classification des plantes par Linné et Gouan, regard nouveau sur la beauté de la nature ordinaire par Rousseau et nouvelles préoccupations philosophiques de nombres de penseurs annonçaient une révolution…

Le parc de Valbelle, qui était une démonstration par les sens de cette « nouvelle » vision du monde, pourrait retrouver un fl narratif nouveau, conscient de son héritage mais enrichi par son histoire récente et par une approche contemporaine du paysage et de l’écologie en territoire méditerranéen. “Rediscover the historical framework to create a unique, singular park”

An extraordinary and remarkable site, carried out in the image of its originator, the Valbelle Castle Park is a precious testimony to the Age of Enlightenment, dismantled and reappropriated by the people then being overrun by scrubland…

The elements are there: workshops, winding pathways, relics of groves, landscape framing, pyramid hidden in the woods, etc. They are just waiting for a makeover in order to recompose a park that offers surprise, knowledge and the unending, renewed pleasure of discovery.

The dialogue between ecology, history and landscaping project can transcend the simple creation of the “ornamental”, giving homage to the ideas and eclecticism of the 18th century, out of which plant collecting and classification by Linné and Gouan, a new way of looking at ordinary nature’s beauty by Rousseau and new philosophical leanings by a number of thinkers announced a revolution…

Valbelle Park, which served as a demonstration in the sense of this “new” world vision, was able to find a new narrative flow, conscious of its heritage but enriched by its recent history and by a contemporary approach to Mediterranean-oriented landscaping and ecology. (Add. methodology note)
